What is Hardplate Steel?
Hardplate is steel that has been processed before going through a special heating process to transform it into an even tougher and more durable piece of steel. When used as a lock protector in a Liberty safe, it is placed in front of the lock to protect it from being drilled or punched. It is so hard it resists drilling or punching from both manual and power tools.
Liberty Safe uses two different types of hardplate lock protectors:
- Triple-layered steel hardplate in our Centurion, USA, 1776, Colonial and Franklin models
- Ball-bearing hardplate in our Lincoln, Classic Select, National Magnum and Presidential models, which contains numerous steel ball bearings encased within hardplate
